Welcome to the Homepage of HARA.
SATURDAY 14th AUGUST 2010
Hatton's Annual Barbecue this afternoon, hosted by HARA, was a great success. Lovely sunny day, marquee up in a record one hour, lovely burgers, good turnout, finished and tidied up by 6:30pm. Great to see Heather (my stepdaughter, currently living in Montrose). Thanks to all who helped and everyone who turned up to enjoy the afternoon. However, our sympathy to Diana who went home from BBQ to find her lovely cat had been run over and killed.
The HARA Committee met on Tuesday 13th July 2010 and discussed various issues and planning for the upcoming HARA Barbecue to be held on Saturday 14th August.
NEW COMMITTEE MEMBER
We welcomed LINDA ALVES along as the latest recruit to the HARA Committee. Linda has been co-opted on until the AGM in November.
VILLAGE ORDERLY
The Village Orderly started work for the ten week Summer period at the end of June. She shares her time between Hatton and Longside. If there are particular areas or tasks you think she could attend to, please advise us and we will forward on your suggestions.
STREET NAMES
The first houses in the new development at the entrance to the village (the old Railway Station site) are now at an advanced stage of construction. The Community Council were asked to liaise with local Councillors regarding two street names. The preference of those in the village who responded to a request for suggestions were for street names relating to the location as the former Station site and this has been forwarded on to Aberdeenshire Council.
NOTE THAT OUR EMAIL ADDRESS CHANGED ON 8th FEBRUARY 2010.
Hatton is a small village (some 400 houses) in Aberdeenshire, on the North East Coast of Scotland, half way between the towns of Ellon and Peterhead, and a couple of miles or so inland from Cruden Bay (and from Slains Castle - one of the places that inspired Bram Stoker to write "Dracula". He used to stay at the Kilmarnock Arms Hotel in Cruden Bay when visiting the area).
Hatton Area Residents Association was founded in 1996 and is now in its fourteenth year. Although originally set up to represent Council tenants in the Hatton Farm Gardens area, HARA has for a number of years covered the whole village (including Bridgend) and has a mix of tenants and home owners on its management committee.
We hope you enjoy our site and the content within. You should find links to sites mentioned on the Hot Links page. If there is anything else you would like to see on the site, or any news items or forthcoming events to be added, please let us know.
