Hello and WELCOME to the site for Dyce Outdoor Bowling Club. We are a small but happy Bowling Club on the outskirts of Aberdeen. At the moment we have a membership of approx 90 members and a few junior members also.
Our President for the year 2004 / 2005 is Mr Frank Philip and the Vice President is Mr Eddie Porter.
We are in the Bon Accord League. This is a league for the Bowling clubs in Aberdeen City only. We are in the Bennachie League also. This is a wider reaching league in the Aberdeenshire area. These leagues are mainly for the Gents only. In both the leagues we are having what could be described as a mixed success! In the Bennachie we are not at the bottom, but nearer there than the top. However, that does not dampen the enthusiam of the players.
In the Ladies Leagues there are two predominant Leagues. The Aberdeen Ladies and the Craigie Ladies. It's sad for me to write this, but the Ladies are having a better success rate this year than the men. And there is a lot less of them than us! (Sexist pig that I am!)
We also play in other leagues / games. In fact this year the men have won the Forbes Hendry cup. Which of course is a great credit to all the players involved. We also have two ladies going down to Ayr this year who have won through to reach the big time down there in July. So we are rooting for them all the way.
If you would like to pay us a visit, here are the directions to the club; Follow the road from Aberdeen to Oldmeldrum / Banff. On the Dyce road, when you get to the Marriott Hotel roundabout go straight on towards the village, through the first set of traffic lights. 200 metres on there is a small road on the left hand side, between the Lloyds TSB Bank and the Clysdales Bank. Take this and 40 metres on, there is a patch of waste ground (carpark!) on the left. Park round there. Take the small path that goes through the childrens playground and there you will find the gate to the Bowling Green. Just introduce yourself to any one there and "WELCOME" Bring your bowls and shoes.
I hope to see you there!
