Saturday the 29th of July 2006 saw the first Gourdon Gala for 8 years and the first Gourdon Gala with a 'Crowned Queen and Princesses' for over 14 years!!
Despite the weather not being as sunny as it had been the few weeks previously, it was warm and dry with a wee bit of Haar off the water.
Entertainment included Live music from The Fisher Folk, The Residents and Kevin and Robyn.
Country Dancing, Face Paiting, Wheel of Fortune, Local Arts and Crafts and even a Psychic Clairvoyant all added to the many attractions.
The Gala Committee would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped make the day a success. All we've got to do now is make next year BIGGER and better.

Gala a smash! (From Mearns Leader)
HUNDREDS of people turned up to celebrate the return of Gourdon Gala, which came back with a bang on Saturday.
Dozens of stalls were set up for visitors to browse, while there was also a barbecue and a stage set up, with music coming courtesy of local bands The Residents and The Fisherfolk. Two performers, Kevin and Robyn, travelled all the way up from Kinross to perform while guitarist and singer Kat also played to the gathered crowds.
The last gala in the village was organised by the Lifeboat Guild, some eight years ago, while the one before that took place in 1986.
Heather Moreland, of Gourdon Gala Committee, said she was very pleased with the event.
"It was just brilliant, a great day," she said.
"The success of the day was down to real team effort, not only from the Gala Committee but also from many locals in the village and others.
"Everyone was very keen to help out and put in a lot of effort, which we are very grateful for. They all pulled together very well and it turned out to be a great day.
"We didn't expect so many people to come along and there was a great atmosphere. We learned a lot from the day too and we are hoping to be bigger and better for next year.
"All the funds we raised will go to the village and we are already planning a kids disco and hopefully also a barbecue in September at the harbour.
"A Hallowecn disco is also on the cards and we're looking at events for Christmas and Hogmanay."

AFTER EIGHT years in abeyance, the Gourdon gala enjoyed a rousing revival on Saturday drawing out both locals and visitors to the pier.
Opened by North Tonight news broadcaster Chris Harvey, the event brought together a lively mix of music, dancing, fancy dress, and a host of stall holders offering everything from local food delicacies to original craftwork.
In days gone by, Gourdon was a thriving fishing community but has recently been labelled the forgotten village in reference to its run-down appearance.
The reinstatement of the gala was the first major initiative by a new committee determined to breathe life back into the community.

GOURDON RALLIES TOGETHER FOR RETURN OF GALA
A Small coastal community rallied together at the weekend to put on its first village gala in more than 20 years.
Crowds turned out in force to join in the fun at Gourdon on Saturday. Organisers said the day passed off "perfectly", and vowed to put on a variety of events in future.
Heather Morland, who helped set up the gala, said: "We hadn't done anything like this in so long, we were worried that people wouldn't get involved. I was really happy with the response, people seemed to come from everywhere. The village was packed."
A few locals suggested bringing back the gala, last held in 1984, just five months ago and worked flat out to make it a reality.
Mrs Morland added: "The locals were great and the youngsters mucked in to help set up the marquee. It was a real community event."
Stalls were erected at the pier and bands entertained visitors during the afternoon before the gala wound down at around 6pm.
Organisers have yet to count the total money raised through various events, but said funds would go towards village improvements.
Mrs Morland said an Aberdeenshire Council officer will join her on a tour of Gourdon next week to go over a local wish list of possible projects, including flower displays and new signs.
