The Highland Rock Garden Club is affiliated to the Scottish Rock Garden Club and the Royal Horticultural Society and has a broad spectrum of members who are interested in rock garden and woodland plants, both easy and difficult.
Rock gardening can cover a very broad church and our members grow plants and bulbs in unheated greenhouses, shady borders, sunny rockeries and containers. Some of our plants come from the local D.I.Y. stores and garden centres, some from specialist nurseries and catalogues and others we grow from seed. New members will get all the encouragement they want from more experienced members – just ask!
In our gardens members tend to grow something ‘slightly different’ to the other gardeners in the street – not to be clever but because we enjoy these oddities. Come on in and join the fun.
Talks Programme we meet on the second Wednesday of the month from October to April, in Nairn Community Centre, with a varied programme of talks and practical demonstrations;in addition we have garden visits and an annual show and plant sale.
Our speakers include well respected explorers and gardeners who give slide and digital presentations to entertain and inform us with talks of visits to the mountains of far off lands and to show how the plants found there can be grown in our gardens.
Talks this coming winter include the following:
Plants of The Hohe Tauern - Austria
Primula Hunting in China
Growing Alpine Bulbs
Propagating Alpines
Plants of the Drakensberg Mountains - South Africa
