Torry is unique in Aberdeen. It was created a Royal Burgh 'way back in 1495.
Our people (more than 12,000 of us now) are almost a race apart in the city. We regard Torry as a village and we are a closely-knit lot. Of course, over the years we've seen lots of in-comers, but we like to think we've made them feel welcome and that they have found no difficulty in becoming villagers.
Our welfare is looked after by Torry Community Council and that council has been one of the strongest in Aberdeen.

We work hard in Torry . . . we have just won a monumental battle to stop the building of a giant incinerator which would have added to the miseries that the folk of Balnagask and round about have to endure — the smells from the waste water works, the fish processing works, the jet engine testing site.
We persuaded the Scottish Executive to give the community council £1.5 million towards the cost of our Neighbourhood Centre which is now a going concern.
We've got a youth cafe up and running, but need more volunteers to help out.
Torry Community Council meetings are held on the third Thursday of the month at St Peter's Church Hall in Victoria Road, 7.0pm. Everyone is welcome.
What we want is for you to get in on the act. Before we can help with people's problems we need to know what they are. And we really can help!
